Black Country Night with Dandy

BLACK COUNTRY CHARITY EVENING AT NEWPORT BOWLING CLUB

For the seventh year running bowling club member, Maureen Cundy, successfully organised another popular Black Country charity evening on Saturday, 20th February at Newport Bowling Club.

The sold out performance featured the husband and wife comedy and vocal duo, Allan and Glynnis Briscoe, popularly known as ‘Dandy’, whose unique brand of contemporary Black Country humour created so much laughter throughout the entire evening. Many of their stories were based on their own personal experiences and ones that the audience could easily relate to themselves.

During the interval a fish and chip supper from Jones’ was laid on, followed by a huge raffle with dozens of prizes kindly donated by members and outside supporters of the club.

Proceeds from the evening amounted to a magnificent profit of £800 and will be divided between two charities, Cancer Research and Alzheimers.

Maureen thanked all those who had kindly donated raffle prizes, along with those members of the club who had sold tickets, helped behind the bar, distributed the fish and chip suppers and helped in any other way. She concluded by thanking Allan and Glynnis of Dandy for once again coming back to Newport to give everyone such a memorable and most enjoyable entertaining evening. We look forward to their return visit next year.
