The most successful ever ‘Black Country Night’ charity event was held at Newport Bowling Club on Saturday, 17th February when renowned comedy music duo Alan and Glynnis Brisco (Alias ‘Dandy’) returned to Newport by popular demand to entertain a packed audience.
This extremely popular event has been organised by Club member, Maureen Cundy and her small team of helpers over the past nine years and Maureen has announced that 2018 will be her last year of organising this annual “Dandy” night at the bowling club.
From the start, Maureen decided that the takings from this annual event would be given to charity and the proceeds this year amounted to a record £888.50 which brought the 9 year total of money raised to an amazing £7,197.50. This money has been divided between Cancer Research and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Maureen wishes to thank all her helpers and supporters and everyone who has donated money and contributed in any way to the overall success of these evenings. She has thoroughly enjoyed organising these annual “Dandy Evenings” at the Club and very pleased that she has helped to raise, with everyone\s help, so much money for these worthy causes.
